Bowflex Treadmill
Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill
I love my Bowflex series 7 treadmill! I've used it for the past year and lost 5 inches off my waist size. I run every day now, regardless of rain and cold outside — I can once again wear pants I wore 25 years ago in high school.
This bowflex treadmill is the most popular home treadmill available on the market today. It was also rated as the top fitness product by a leading health magazine, and I concur that it's the best treadmill that I've ever owned out of several that I had over the years. It's nice to park a treadmill in front of your TV, that I find it's less boring than running on a track or outdoors.
Let's talk about what kind of features it has. Can you run full speed on this thing? Absolutely. It has a strong three horsepower motor that will give you an intense aerobic workout and release work your cardiovascular system, and it can go as high as 11 miles per hour. Generally for fat loss you want to stay under six miles per hour or so — some experts have suggested that walking is actually better than running for weight loss. But if you want to do some quick interval training or work your heart and lungs cardiovascular-wise, 11 miles per hour is really fast, almost a sprint.
To keep you from getting bored, there are 15 workout routines include it, letting you change up your daily exercise each time you use it. Some of these routines include fat burn, interval training, hill training, distance or calorie targets, BMI tests, and customize routines you can tailor to your own physical condition and goals. Selecting the speed and the incline of the treadmill is quick and easy with the press of a key, and you can set the incline as high as 12%, which gives an awesome workout to your heart and lungs without stressing your legs.
Also, there's a heart rate monitor and pulse measuring grip that displays your heart rate on a brightly lit LCD screen. The screen also shows other readings such as calories, time, etc.
Regarding the physical specifications of the bowflex treadmill, it's about seven feet long by three feet wide — compact enough to put inside your exercise room or one of your spare rooms, and even the corner of your living room. Yet at the same time it has a large running surface that measures five feet by almost two feet, and the really cool thing is that you can fold it up and store it in your closet if you don't want to leave it out all the time. The machine itself weighs about 295 pounds and can accommodate users who weigh up to 300 pounds.
What I really like about this both Bowflex 7 treadmill is that it has the Strike Zone cushion built and that gives you awesome shock absorption but is still stable and firm to let you run comfortably. I've had problems with my knees and shin splints while jogging on concrete streets in the past — both problems have subsided since I've been using the Bowflex 7. Do make sure that you're using a pair of well cushioned athletic shoes, preferably running shoes from companies like New Balance or Asics (Nike SHOX shoes are okay, too, but I found that they don't provide as much cushioning as the cheaper jogging shoes from the other two companies, ironically). The running surface is made of a 2-ply belt and has good traction.
There's also a fan that cools you down while you're running; it's adjustable to three speeds. There's also two drink holders to keep you well hydrated as you jog — this is really important; make sure you are drinking plenty of water as you run to prevent dehydration, and also to prevent you from overestimating your fat loss when it's actually just water loss.
If you're looking to lose some weight or to just improve your overall fitness, I don't see a better treadmill on the market at this price range. I'm really happy with mine, and I would've gladly paid a lot more. The warranty on this bowflex treadmill is outstanding as well, the overall chassis is warranted for 15 years and the motor is warranted for 10 years.
